Cons
- Higher initial cost
- Gas is required at your property
Electric pool and spa heat pumps:
Pros
- Low maintenance
- Can be set to run in low tariff times of the day
Cons
- More expensive than gas
- Create more green house gasses than gas
Solar Pool and Spa heaters:
Pros
- Low maintenance
- Very cheap to run
Cons
- Extend the use of your pool by about 2 months per year so can’t be used in winter
In a nutshell, gas, solar and electric pool and spa heaters work like an instant host water system at your house. The water from your pool or spa circulates through the system which heaters the water as it passes through the pipes. The only difference is where the heat comes from.
